30 day collage challenge turned every day collage enhancement - 2022
Here's something I haven't done in a while: a 30-day art experience/challenge! 30 days of digital intuitive collage. Day 1 prompt: Map. (subtitle: Reunion)
What a lovely way to get back into collage while also trying to ease back into the various hats I need to currently wear. While I have a healthy amount of physical collage material to work with, getting it out and getting into the physical space to create is alas, too much right now. Looking forward to creating intuitively and freely while taking up zero desk/coffee table/or bed space.
Through It / Chromo Angels
THROUGH IT is inspired by emotional and psychological ebbs and flows. Each composition speaks to an evolving state of mind and the related journey through it. The Game Guardians/Chromo Angels appear along the series to represent my guides, my muses, my conscious, my confidence and even my guardian angels. Be it phobic, euphoric or dim, each journey is mapped for future passages and playings-through. The compositions are built upon original photography taken around various points of access in Brooklyn and Manhattan. Using Photoshop I duplicate, reflect and rotate the image until they take on new forms and direction. The street corner at night becomes unrecognizable; it is a new location with a new use. The images are then woven into sourced exit maps and game boards. The viewer is invited to let go, jump into the journey, travel all the way through and finally out: transformed. Taking away their own unique experience.

Wife Returns on Sunday
Wife Returns on Sunday. 2014
This map was created to be the visual representation of an original textual map, an assignment for a Residency entitled Mapping: Perceptual and Textual. The following is an original textual map in the form of short story I created by way of redaction poetry:
Returns on Sunday
Sunrise and soft lament.
A call to nobody.
Waiting to be tapped has become
common as rice.
The sounds are for show. Bathed in
dim and mournful drama the Madam begins at dawn, an early enjoyable but
A female of State and obvious
With a human face, a husky voice and
a loose unusual brain, she has all the determination of the Original.
It’s a wish dragged reluctantly into
high. Her time there is spent making the
world her next move.
A closer model found in a different
Wife, who stands then leaves and
returns on Sunday. Sunday is bracing and especially long. It's the imagination
and energy of it's married creators.
The Wife, played, is sympathetic but
also devious not beyond using her own words.
In some ways the Madame seeks to be
the first hostage, talking in echoes to save another held by the calls of State
to show as real life.
This fantasy was forced upon her.
She is unexplained and content to raise horses and children.
Reluctantly, she makes a difference,
on the wrong side and sports a ghost of a smile.
In charge without approval He asks
Her how She did it. "I don't know. With a shrug?"
Suddenly full of a Heroine's mind
and of state Her home has opened doors.
Stealing a bit from home and from
house, faith in Mrs. over She proves to be too dark.
She strikes virtue. She balances
The Madam has good but would be
better if She were just a little worse.
